Letter From Rhys - Week # 41 – Memorial Day Celebrations!
Feliz Lunes from the tropical land of the Republica Dominicana!
Today, we all know is the wonderful
day of cookouts and parties as we remember the sacrifices our families and
friends have made for the sake of our freedom and happiness! There are many
moments not only in our lives but in the scriptures in which the Lord has
helped his people be freed from bondage and tribulation. Actually, on a daily
basis, I find myself singing the Battle hymn of the Republic. The last verse
really has a powerful impact and is too true about the plan that our Father has
for us all.
In the beauty of the Lilies,
Christ was born across the sea,
with a fire in his bosom
that transfigures you and me.
While He died to make men holy,
let us live to make men free,
While God is Marching on!
His truth is
marching on and I know it to be true! Every mother, father, son, and daughter
that has died for the cause of liberty has felt the love and experienced a part
of the life of Jesus Christ as he died so all of us can have the opportunity to
live with our Father in Heaven once more. I am glad I am able to bring the
Gospel to so many families and help them to know of the marvelous plan of our
Heavenly Father! Thanks to Him, all things in our lives can be possible and I
know that only through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and putting our trust
in him, can we obtain all of the things that we truly desire in life!
Well anyway, here’s this week’s report! This past Friday we
had a baptism of an awesome kid named Eliel! He’s super sick [in a cool slang
way, not really ill] and thinks that Elder Chu is the Coolest bro! We had a
decent amount of people show up for church this past Sunday and some
investigators have started progressing again! But something else super awesome
happened on Friday!!!!!
Edeeste, the electrical company that robs people of their
money and electricity, finally had a fire lit underneath their butts and got to
work! In short! WE HAVE POWER!!!!! It only took 39 days!!!!!!! Today as well, we had a zone activity! I cooked
the Amazing World-Famous Wheeler 7 Pepper Chili!!!!! It was super good and totally worth it.
Hermana Smith let me borrow her canning pot to cook the chili but it was still
too small for the chili! I had to make it in 2 separate pots!
Well that’s really all I’ve got for this week. It’s a little
shorter than last week but none the less totally AWESOME! I Love you guys and
keep up the awesome Shenanigans!
Going forth with the Vision of Christ and an eye of Faith,
Elder Rhys Wheeler
P.S. Mommy! Don’t you
worry Child! Heavens got a plan for me! But its plan for you is to correct
those typos! Thanks!!!!!!
