Letter From Rhys - Week #15 - The Adventures of Elder Chu: Part 1
Feliz Lunes from the tropical land of the Republica
Dominicana.
This Week is all about the adventures of Elder Chu, but
before we get to that a quick update. 2
of our 4 people to get baptized this past week were. The others were pushed back to the first weeks
of December. Also, we have had many
miracles in our area which include finding gold! (Investigator) The name of
this Gold is Jennifer. Jennifer has been attending the church for quite some time
now, and has a testimony that it is God's church on the earth but she has not
been baptized. This is because she's
moved a lot and never talked with the missionaries before. We found her while looking for someone else. We stopped by her home to see if she knew
someone who had been contacted during the Cosecha in the previous week and she
then proceeded to search for this person for us for 15 min. It was an amazing find.
Now to the part with Elder Chu! The Wonderful big yellow stuffed Pokémon
Pikachu who is named Elder Chu, has been to quite a few places this week. Upon the request of my zone, Elder Chu came to
our district meeting this past week. Also,
coincidently, for interviews, so did the Mission President and his wife! I am sad to say that President Smith was not
formally introduced to Elder Chu. However, Hermana Smith had the privilege of
getting her picture taken with Elder Chu. She also gave me the OK to use Elder Chu in
lessons with young children.
Anyway, Elder Chu has been established as our Zone Mascot
and I will probably be bringing him to all of our meetings for the rest of the
Transfer. Along with that, the president
and assistants (with most of the work being Hermana Smith) brought thanksgiving
lunch for us last Thursday for our district meeting. IT was SOOOOO GOOOOD. And I
had the opportunity of trying a plum pie. It’s not that bad really.
This morning with it being p-day, Elder Portillo and myself
ran to the Avenida España at 6:15 to watch the sunrise. And since this is the Adventures of Elder Chu.
OF COURSE, I took him with me! I Ran with him in my hands and he was wearing
his p-day hoodie as well! We took a whole
bunch of pictures and a video as Elder Chu witnesses the rising sun over the
horizon of the Caribbean Sea!
After returning to our apartment, we prepared ourselves for
the amazing experience in the Parque Del Este. It’s funny, while I’m currently writing this
letter, there are people in this cyber center screaming PIKACHU! Oh, if they
only knew. 😎😂😉
At the Parque Del Este, us Elders in the zone went and played
some good ol' fashioned football... soccer... Elder Chu was more of a spectator
in this case but we did get some fun pictures and the Elders got to see his
awesome Great Ball Hoodie!
Elder Chu really is a hit with the Hermanas though. It’s a
good thing he doesn’t have to follow the rules of the missionary handbook LOL.
Well... This finishes this chapter of The Adventures of Elder Chu. Tune in next
time to hear what of the kind of shenanigans he gets into. Only on “Pokemon! Missionary Edition! Gotta
teach em' all!” (Repentance and baptize these converts)!
Going forth with the vision of Christ and an eye of faith,
Elder Rhys Wheeler
P.s Mommy. I sure do appreciate all that you do. but there
are more typos so there’s more that needs done.
Public Service Announcement: There are photos of Elder Chu's
adventures but at the moment I am unable to send them. Sorry to all who just loves
and adores Elder Chu! Please be patient. Thank you and have a nice day!
Hey Elder Wheeler.
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived both hurricanes. I have moved to Texas this last Summer and experienced Harvey, we were on the dirty side and got 51.22 inches of rain. Fun. I livenorth of Houston and in an area that I was blessed with no flooding, but have people in my ward that we're hit. My parents south of me we're blessed as well. Continue your good works and gloryfy your Father in heaven. Sister Cindy
